IT support and network setup for Darwin small businesses, and on-site cover for MSPs
I'm a Darwin-based IT support engineer (CCNA, AZ-900). I've worked in-house at Legal Aid NT and inside an MSP at Setup4, and I take on contract work in the evenings and at weekends. You get a written, fixed quote before any work starts, and handover notes when it's done, so the next person can pick it up.
- CCNA
- Microsoft AZ-900
- Cisco Meraki
- Microsoft 365 / Intune / Entra ID
- Veeam
- ConnectWise Manage & RMM
- ScreenConnect
What I do
Networks
Small-office network setup
Wi-Fi that covers the whole office, a properly configured firewall, and a network you can hand to someone else.
- Site survey, access-point placement, VLANs for guests and staff
- Firewall rules, VPN for remote staff, Meraki dashboard setup
- Diagram and admin credentials handed over, not kept
Typical job: 1โ2 days on site.
Identity & devices
Microsoft 365 and Intune: setup or clean-up
New tenant, or the one that grew by accident. Accounts, licences and devices set up so staff changes stop being a project.
- Entra ID users and groups, MFA, conditional access basics
- Intune enrolment and policies for laptops and phones
- A documented onboarding and offboarding checklist
Typical job: 1โ3 days, mostly remote.
Resilience
Backup and security baseline
Backups that have actually been restored, and endpoint protection that is switched on everywhere.
- Veeam or Microsoft 365 backup, with a tested restore
- Microsoft Defender rollout and a patching routine
- A plain-English list of the remaining risks, ranked
Typical job: 1โ2 days.
For MSPs
On-site cover in the NT
Local hands for your NT clients: break-fix, hardware rollouts, cabling checks and remote hands, working your ticket process.
- Already fluent in ConnectWise Manage, RMM and ScreenConnect
- Darwin, Palmerston and the Top End; regional by arrangement
- After hours and weekends; subcontract rates by agreement
Ad hoc or on an ongoing overflow arrangement.
Media monitoring
Nepal media briefs, in Nepali and English
For NGOs, missions, researchers and businesses that need to know how the Nepali press is covering their issue, without reading 20 outlets in two languages every day.
- Which outlets carried your topic, and which stayed silent
- How each outlet framed it, and where their numbers disagree
- Every point links to the article it came from, so you can check it
Weekly or monthly, quoted per brief. See the kind of analysis it draws on at the Nepal news portal.
How it works
- A free 15-minute call. You describe the problem and I ask the questions that decide the scope.
- A written, fixed quote. It covers what is included, what isn't, and when it will be done. No hourly meter left running.
- The work. Scheduled around your business hours where possible, so staff aren't interrupted.
- Handover. Notes, diagrams and admin credentials go to you, so you're never locked in to me.
Questions
- Do you work business hours?
- Mostly evenings and weekends, which suits changes that shouldn't interrupt staff. Urgent daytime work can sometimes be arranged; ask.
- Can you take over from our current IT provider?
- Yes. I'll document what exists first, so nothing is lost in the handover.
- Do you sell hardware?
- No. I recommend what fits, and you buy it directly, so there's no markup and no conflict of interest.
